Decades spent perfecting the formula, finally holding the elixir of life in hand.
The intent to bestow his wife with everlasting beauty and immortality.
But now he has a zombie for his bride.

This is my first time linking up with Trifecta, even though I have seen it in about a bazillion blog posts that I read. I figure there is no better time to try and jump in than a weekend challenge about zombies. Our challenge was to write 33 words that were somehow related to Zora Neale Hurston’s zombie sighting. I chose to go off of the idea of the chemical mix needed to create the phenomenon, interpreting that to mean alchemy.
If alchemy was still prominent in today’s society would you devote more time to trying to find the philosopher’s stone (turns base metals, like lead, into gold) or the elixir of life (youth and immortality)?

Welcome aboard the Trifecta Train! Thanks so much for linking up. Glad we could coax you with the undead.
Great response to the prompt. Maybe you’ll be back on Monday for the next prompt.
Oh, interesting, and a reflection of the three wishes … be careful what you wish for …
I suppose he got part of what he wanted…she won’t die again anytime soon.
Creepy and literary all together. An excellent achievement.
Thank you very much!
Oh those manipulative mad scientists!
Mad scientists always ruin things!
Very clever. It’ll teach him to mess with nature! Great response.
Thanks. I’m sure similar results occurred all the time with alchemy.
Reminded me of the Nathaniel Hawthorne story, Birthmark. That was a creepy one. Love this take on the prompt.
I’m not sure I’ve read that one. I’ll have to do that! Thanks.
Oops!
Well done.
Thanks!
It’s like something out of an old science fiction movie (: I love it!
Thanks! I can totally see where that would fit into an old science fiction movie, now that you mention it.
