Returning to Writing
Since the end of June, I have failed to make a return to my previous blogging habits. I had accounted for a few weeks in July, due to the wedding, but I had no idea it would be so difficult to get back into the blogging groove. Even my wife has wondered why I haven’t been blogging anymore. Several times.
And there is no valid justification for the prolonged absence. I have prioritized other things above my writing. I have started playing video games more often than I have in a few years. I could blame Batman: Arkham City and Zelda: Skyward Sword for this absence, but that wouldn’t really be true.
I could blame a lack of writing ideas but, once again, that would not be true. I have plenty of ideas. I now have at least two good ideas for short story series to write and place on this blog. I just have not gotten around to starting them.
I could blame college classes, married life, an increased involvement at church…but none of those are the real reason.
I suppose I just let writing take a back seat to other things, even though I have had plenty of time and plenty of ideas to blog. As a writer, I am ashamed to admit it. But that will all change.
This week I need to sit down and wrap up The Curse of Fierabras with the final installment, bringing it to where I wanted that serial novel portion to end. I need to get back to making more progress on it if I ever want to publish a novel. I need to polish it and send it off to the Writers of the Future Contest, so that I have some small chance of it getting published.
I want to redesign a few things on the blog, and find a few others that I enjoy reading regularly. I need to find groups to become active in, networking with bloggers and writers while allowing my exposure and skill to grow.
And I need to decide which series to start writing next. It is no surprise that they are both fantasy-based.
So come back often. It is time for me to return to writing.
